Here's a musical blog-filling trick I learned from my brother: Set your iPod or -- if you're like me -- your non-iPod-but-still-just-as-good mp3 player on random play and take note of the first dozen (or baker's dozen) songs you get. Sometimes it's representative of your tastes and sometimes it's a little embarrassing. Today's offerings:
- 'Scuttle Buttin',' Stevie Ray Vaughan
- 'My Ding-a-Ling,' Chuck Berry
- 'Casino Boogie,' Rolling Stones
- 'I'm Glad for Your Sake,' Ray Charles
- 'All the Way From Memphis,' Mott the Hoople
- 'She Used to Love Me a Lot,' David Allan Coe
- 'Stones in the Road,' Mary Chapin Carpenter
- 'Long Time Gone,' the Flatlanders
- 'The Price Is Too High,' Slim Harpo
- '999,' Keith Richards
- 'I'm a Rocker,' Bruce Springsteen
I promise not to use this device more than once a month.
